There are a few times of the year when I, a makeup-obsessed beauty writer, shy away from applying makeup, and it’s always in the dead of winter. The air is dry, our skin is suffering and there is no motivation to apply something that will inevitably suck the life out of my already stressed skin. But this year, I have these eight tricks up my sleeve to get through these times and stay hydrated and radiant all day long:
1. Glowy Foundation
A truly fresh base is the start of a solid makeup routine, especially if you have dry skin. Choose a foundation with a radiant finish. It won’t snag on dry patches or leave your skin feeling tight after wearing it all day. Plus, they can help keep your skin hydrated with ingredients like hyaluronic acid.
2. Creamy concealer
Like a radiant foundation, choose a creamy concealer that blends effortlessly. These typically have a satin/glossy finish that makes a glowing foundation perfect, or they’re great to wear on their own.
3. Light powder
If you can’t do without powdering your face for long days, there are powders on the market that are specifically designed for dry skin types. These usually have a very light, finely milled texture and may have pearls or a glossy finish. Applying it lightly all over the face or just in spots under the eyes will help your makeup stay in place without clumping or settling in lines.
